Modules - Goals and Objectives

Please take a look at the following link. I have created a table with the complete list of modules that Joy and Cathy had access to for the last two years. Please respond to this blog with your preferences for the rest of the trainings.

http://www.mainelearns.org/region8/modules.html

Remember this is a conversation, so check back and respond to some of the comments left by your colleagues.

If you have a blogger account, you can use that to respond. IF not, you may want to sign up for a free account, as we will be using this method for a few discussions throughout the year.

If you comment using the anonymous choice, please put your initials somewhere in your post so that we know who you are...not very anonymous, huh?

See you all soon!

Read the modules. Lots to choose from. What do others think we should do, cause I am overwhelmed with the choices.

Hello everyone,
Wow it is a lot to absorb! Then agian I just had time to look throught the link quickly. One thing that stuck out for me was that some of objectives has us using Microsoft Office. Although we have access to it our students do not. Is this going to change? If not can we focus on what the students have access to on a regular basis and that is Appleworks?

I forgot to say that I will look more into it when I get a chance and post more.

vf - Thanks for helping mc out.

mc - Did that work for you?

Gordon - I agree that it is alot to absorb. I just wanted you guys to start looking at it so that we can have a discussion. I'm glad you brought up the Microsoft Office application... The intent is to work with word processing, not a specific application, I can adapt it to Appleworks or Neo Office.

Hello Ya'll,

I think that working with Neooffice would be great. I am kind of a Microsoft Office nut myself and like doing spreadsheets with excel...is there an application that has the same capabilities like that on our macs...I only have a G4 unlike you "HIGH" schoolers....haha....

Best Wishes,

KEN

Hey folks,
All I know is I want to do something useful for all of us in the classroom, or what's the point.

vf,
Making a difference for you and your students is our goal. Some of the modules are 8 hour modules, and we only have 28 hours left, so we need to use that time wisely. I think it would be good to do some modules on pedagogy and some on technology. I will be using different Web 2.0 tools, like this blog, when appropriate, no matter what topics we select.

Looking forward to seeing you all on Thursday at 2:45 in Mary's room at Quimby...if that's okay, Mary.

Martha Thibodeau said...

Luke,

There is a module on PowerPoint, but take a look at Jamie McKenzie's article called "Scoring Power Points." I'd like to hear what you think about it.
