Session 6 Reflections

In session 6, we showed some resources that we found helpful and then investigated a few new tools to use with the SmartBoard. We also looked at making Firefox the default browser and changing bookmarks from one browser to another.

The literacy class that many of you are involved with will collide with 4 of our previously scheduled trainings. To make this less of a challenge, I am proposing some changes to the January 30th training. We will have this training at the high school, and I'm looking for a volunteer from the high school teachers in the group to host the training. This training is after an early release training, and Mrs. Mackenzie said that we may start at 2:00. Although we had scheduled this next session to go until 5 pm, we will end it at 4:00 to allow for the literacy class.

I'm hoping that something can be worked out so that we don't have to re do the remaining 3 dates...more on this matter at a later date.

Please respond to this blog using any of the 16 exit slip strategies that I gave you at the meeting. Looking forward to seeing you at the end of January.

Martha, just so you will know, I have talked to the instructors of the Lit class and we are going to discuss the possiblity of changing those 3 class dates. I will post again after that class as to what, if anything, has changed.

I'm going to try #8 for my response. Here goes . . .

After reading my response to my son, he tells me that rap is the audio pollution of America, it is a medium to spread racism, sexism, bigotry, and greed. All I know is that some of it makes me uptight, just the noise of it, that I feel like I want to hit someone. He is hoping his remark will compensate for my horrible rap.

Hey Martha,
I am in training conference dealing with TechPaths.(Curriculum Mapping) We are trying to set up a time to train the rest of the staff on this software. We were thinking about the 30th and we may run over 2:00 a bit, we are going to do some training in my room and we may go over a few minutes. Hopefully we will not. We are going to have some problems getting everyone from Moscow and Quimby up for 2:00. Some have to train their respective schools then they will come up to the High School. If you like you may join us in the training. It is going to start at 12:00. Please let me know what you think

Okay, I sent a comment in at the end of the last meeting, and it was lost in the nether world. My big thrill was importing the bookmarks to Firefox......of course, now I can't change the font on my school e mail.....

Something that we learned from this class was that communication skills are an integral aspect of any program. We seem to have a "lack" of these skills at our school and with various "important" people.

Another thing that we learned, is that there are hundreds of ways to make learning creative and individual to meet the needs of all students. It just takes time, time, time to become organized and support, support, support to get there.
